Ethel and Albert, also known as The Private Lives of Ethel and Albert, was a radio comedy program created and written by Peg Lynch. It told the story of the young married couple Ethel and Albert Arbuckle (played respectively by Peg Lynch herself and Alan Bunce), who lives in the little town of Sandy Harbor. The show was all about the small funny sides of daily life as well as duck hunting and disastrous dining experience filled with much humor.
At first, the show was only a three-minute filler; nevertheless, due to its popularity, the series was brought into television as a 10-minute segment on The Kate Smith Hour season from 1952 to 1953. In its continuing success, it was made into a half-hour program on the NBC network in April 1953 until it was cancelled in 1954. In 1957, the show was revived by CBS Radio and the title changed to The Couple Next Door with Peg and Alan Bunce still taking the lead roles. The show became a 15-minute program which lasted for 3 more years until it ended in 1960.
