Old Time Radio Downloads > Comedy > Jack Paar

The Jack Paar Show is a sitcom that aired on 1947 as the summer replacement for Jack Benny’s show. Benny was actually the one who discovered Paar in 1945, and he also served at Paar’s producer. In fact, before Paar’s show went on-air, he was asked to guest in Benny’s show.

Unfortunately, Paar’s career was short-lived. He adapted the comedic styles of Fred Allen and Jack Benny himself, and this did not go well with the show’s primary sponsor Lucky Strike. He, however, went on to have a successful career in the 1950s and 1960s, thru a program called The Tonight Show. His success actually made one of the most imitated broadcasting personalities.

ABOUT OLD TIME RADIO
The buzz-term for Old Time Radio is "OTR". OTR usually means radio broadcasting from the golden age of radio, mostly before 1964.These shows from the pre-television age include adventure, comedies, mystery shows, western dramas and shows from World War II. These programs feature the best talent of the day and were broadcast nearly as widely as cable programs today. And just like TV today, families would gather around their crystal radio sets to enjoy the entertainment together.
