Created by Richard Lewis, Quick as a Flash was a radio quiz show program first heard in July 16, 1944 on Mutual Network. In every episode, it featured six contestants who would compete in five different “races,” with the first one being current events, the second about music (which at times, involved performances by live orchestra), the third about history, and the fourth about  literature and entertainment. The fifth and final race is about "Sponsor's Handicap". Unlike other quiz shows, Quick as a Flash comes with a wonderful twist. It doesn’t only test the contestants’ knowledge on the topic, but also their speed of reaction. The show came to its end on June 29, 1951.

The buzz-term for Old Time Radio is "OTR". OTR usually means radio broadcasting from the golden age of radio, mostly before 1964.These shows from the pre-television age include adventure, comedies, mystery shows, western dramas and shows from World War II. These programs feature the best talent of the day and were broadcast nearly as widely as cable programs today.
