Bodkin is best known for her collections of Irish folk tales and legends, which she gathered and retold in a series of books published in the early 20th century. Her works include "The Banshee: The Irish Death Messenger", "The Courtship of Ferb", "Tales of the Elders of Ireland", and "The Wonder Smith and His Son". Her writing often drew on her extensive knowledge of Irish history and culture, and her storytelling style was noted for its vivid imagery and engaging narrative.
Bodkin also wrote essays and articles on a wide range of subjects, including Irish literature, folklore, and mythology. She was a member of the Folklore Society and contributed to its journal, Folklore. She died in 1969 in London at the age of 82.
