Many folks will remember Miss Moorhead for her portrayal of Endora in "Bewitched" and that's fine. However, I remember her best for her work on radio ... in "Sorry, Wrong Number," "The Yellow Wall Paper" and "The Diary os Sophronia Winters," just to name a few ... she was a marvelous radio star.

Miss Agnes Moorehead played so many parts of her career as a very sexy actress in her ruin. She also acted with Mr. Humphrey Bogart in some great old B&W film in the 1940's. As soon as she spoke, I diffidently knew who it was. In the 1960's she played on BEWITCHED with Elisabeth Montgomery as ENDORA. I even saw her acting on The Rifleman. She was so convincing as any role she played so perfectly. - R.I.P. - - -

Married and divorced to actors John Griffith Lee (?-?); Robert Gist (?-?. Moorehead began her career as a public speaking english teacher at the Centralized High School in Soldier's Grove, Wisconsin, then became a dramatic teacher at New York's Dalton School. Radio debut as a singer on KSO and KMOX in St. Louis, Missouri (1923-1924).

It was on this day in 1943 that Lucille Fletcher's classic radio play "Sorry, Wrong Number" was first heard on Suspense. Agnes Moorehead starred in this story for one-voice, which Orson Welles called "the greatest single radio script ever written." Moorhead would reprise the role seven times on radio (though she was passed over in favor of Barbara Stanwyck when the tale was adapted for the silver screen).
