Spoiler : Reed, Alan (birth name was Edward Bergman, aka Anthony Tollin, aka Teddy Bergman) Born in New York City 8/20/1907; died 6/14/1977 following a long illness at the Los Angeles, California St. Vincent's hospital. Married to Finnette Walker (1932-1977 his death). Father of actor Alan Reed, Jr. For several years following high school, Teddy Bergman, who quickly altered his professional moniker to Alan Reed toured with his cousin, Harry Green, in vaudeville. They were employed by various stock companies. For broadcasting purposes, Bergman reportedly changed his name “to break the trap of his Jewish identity.” He claimed that, too frequently, it limited him to roles in which he replicated ethnic brogue. Reed was a master of some 22 foreign dialects.
