Dreier picked Truman to win the presidential election in 1948, and came with-in two electoral votes for Eisenhower's total in 1952. Host of Alex Dreier, Man On The Go for NBC- Radio, a Monday-Friday program during the early to middle 1950's. Dreier was a news commentator at Metro Media KTTV-Los Angeles (1967-1970), and continued reporting for several Southern California television stations until 1992.

Spoiler : He branched out a bit from news, making appearances in Las Vegas with comedian Phil Harris. Card-by-card commentator on Championship Bridge With Charles Goren on ABC-TV (1959-1962), syndicated version (1960-1962). He was the anchorman on What's It All About World for ABC-TV in 1969, then from the late 1960s to the late 1970s he was a character actor in many television shows, including episodes of Corboy in Africa; It Takes a Thief; Land of the Giants; Mannix; The Name of the Game; The Smith Family; O'Hara, U.S. Treasury; Toma; Love, American Style; Hart to Hart.

Spoiler : Dreier also acted in five feature movies, including his first, playing a news commentator in The Boston Strangler (1968). For his last movie, he played Doctor Ulmer in Invisible Strangler (1976).

Spoiler : Dreier is credited with discovering comedian Dick Gregory. Before his death, Dreier served as chairman of the board of the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences, and was a member of the board of directors for the Eisenhower Medical Center, both in Rancho Mirage, California.

Dreier was raised in San Francisco and studied political science at Stanford. Following his graduation in 1939, he worked with UPI in Germany as a reporter before being expelled by the Nazis in 1941, then moved to London where he joined NBC-Radio as a war correspondent, staying with that network until 1956. Dreier covered stories in England, Germany, Poland and Russia. Dreier predicted the Allied invasion of North Africa (missed the date of Germany's surrender by four days).
