Bester, Alfred Born in New York City 12/18/1913; died in 9/1987 at Ottsville, Pennsylvania. Educated at the University Of Pennsylvania. Won a Sci-Fi writer's contest with his story, "The Broken Axiom'" in 1939. Radio script writer during the 40's before turning to science fiction writing in the early 50's. Writer for radio programs including episodes of Nick Carter, Master Detective on Mutual (1945), Mystery Without Murder on NBC (1947), Charlie Chan on Mutual (1947-1948) and The Shadow on Mutual during the 40's.
