Love the show. Don Knotts won 5 consecutive Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy series which were well deserved.

Griffith, Andy (Andrew Samuel Griffith) Born in Mt. Airy, North Carolina 6/1/1926. Married and divorced to Barbara Edwards (1949-1972); Greek actress Selika Cassuto? (1973-1981); actress Cindy Knight (1983). Griffith started out to be Moravian minister, but while he was attending the University Of North Carolina he joined the Carolina Playmakers and began studing acting (1944-1949). Following college he became a high school music teacher. With his wife (Barbara Edwards) Griffith began playing civic clubs (Rotary Club Circuit) and night clubs. In 1953 fame came when he wrote and recorded "What It Wuz, Wuz Football" for Capitol Records. Broadway debut as Airman Will Stockdale in "No Time For Sergeants" (1955), repeated his role on a telecast for The U.S. Steel Hour the same year. Screen debut in A Face In The Crowd (1956). Host of The Sears Radio Theatre comedy nights (Tuesday) (1979-1980).
