Ava Lavina Gardner lived life on her own terms. After her divorce from Frank Sinatra left Hollywood for good. Remained good friends with ex-husband Frank Sinatra. In the early 1950's Franks career had hit a dry spot he needed a big hit movie when he heard about a part (Private Angelo Maggio) in Columbia's From Here To Eternity he asked Ava if she could talk to studio head Harry Cohn and see if Cohn would consider him. Ava did and Frank got the role and won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He never forgot what Ava did for him.
