Mills, Billy (birth name was William Randolph Mills)
Born in Flint, Michigan 9/6/1894; died 10/19/1971 of a heart ailment in Glendale, California. He was educated at the Syracuse and Michigan Universities, a writer of college musicals.
Bandmaster for the 31st Field Artillery during WWI. Arranger for Isham Jones' band. Broadcast on radio station WFDT-Flint, Michigan in 1925, moved to Chicago in 1927 and became an arranger/assistant conductor for Frank Westphal's band, then a pianist with Balaban and Katz.

He joined CBS-Radio in Chicago as music supervisor in 1933, then NBC in 1938. The Billy Mills Orchestra provided music for NBC-Radio programs including The Fibber McGee And Molly Show
(1938-1953); Alec Templetom Time (1939); Hap Hazard (1941); The Great Gildersleeve (1941-1942); The Victor Borge Show (1945).
