Spoiler : Haggart, Bob (Robert Sherwood Haggart) Born in Manhattan, New York 3/13/1914; died 12/3/1998 in a Venice, Florida hospital after collapsing on the way to a post office near his home in Venice. Grew up in Douglaston, New York. Played guitar as a teen-ager, then switched to double bass at age seventeen. Bass player with Bob Sterling's band (1933- 1935); Bob Crosby band (1935-1942). Composed and recorded The Big Noise From Winnetka (bass and drums duet) with drummer Ray Bauduc in 1938. Free-lance musician/composer/arranger (1942-1968). With Yank Lawson formed the World's Greatest Jazz Band in 1968 and performed with the group until the middle 90's. While a member of Bob Crosby's band, performed on all of Crosby's radio shows. Regular performer on Eddie Condon's Jazz Concerts for the NBC-BLUE and ABC Radio Networks (1944-1945). Regular performer on television programs including The Perry Como Show for CBS (seventeen years); The Tonight Show for NBC (1963- 1969).
