Born in Bloomington, Indiana; died 6/19/1997 at age 61 in Martinsville, Indiana. Helms began performing at age twelve, and made his Grand Ole' Opry debut in 1950. Mostly known for his 1957 recording of the Christmas song, Jingle Bell Rock. Regular performer on the syndicated television series of, Ranch Party (1958).
