Spoiler : I think the announcer "Goofed" C.K. Barrett was one of the characters in the story.

Spoiler : Yes, this is curious: I don’t think it’s a mistake, I think the performer was anonymous, and this was a way of hiding his identity, sort of is an inside joke. C. K. Barrett was a British biblical scholar who is most famous work had just been published, but that could be a coincidence. I think it was perhaps one of the riders or producers of the show. His character does make a big deal about his own name, and then in the announcement of the credits, it’s the same name as the character, and I have had no luck finding a radio voice or producer with that name. I wonder what the inside story is?

Spoiler : Mystery solved - it was almost certainly Gerald Mohr, most likely in an intentionally uncredited cameo. His name is in the cast list on the official paperwork. Side note — this comment form is very poor on my iPhone— you can only view one line at a time, which makes proof reading and correction quite difficult; I don’t know what autocorrect errors are in this posting, but there are couple in my last post, including RIDERS for WRITERS and WHO IS for WHO’S.
