Born in Detroit, Michigan 3/1/1903; died 5/11/1985 three weeks following brain surgery in Burbank, California. Attended the University of Michigan for a year, then was a seaman before acting in Hollywood Cameo Comedies. He began his radio career as an announcer at WTAM- Cleveland, Ohio. After NBC took over WTAM in 1931, he was sent to Chicago to be a network announcer.

Lyon moved to Los Angeles in 1955, working as an announcer until 1956 when he joined Ralph Edwards' Productions as an announcer and associate producer until he retired in 1976.
