Charles Rosher was a British-American cinematographer who was active during the silent and early sound film eras. He was born in London, England in 1885 and emigrated to the United States in 1913. Over the course of his career, Rosher worked on many notable films and is considered to be one of the early pioneers of the cinematography profession.
Some of his most notable works include the silent films "Sunrise" (1927), which won the first Academy Award for Best Cinematography, and "Street Angel" (1928). Rosher continued to work as a cinematographer throughout the 1930s and 1940s, and was a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.
