Mulford, Clarence E.(dward)
Born in Streator, Illinois 2/3/1883; died 5/10/1956 in Portland, Maine. When Mulford began writing western adventures, he had never traveled no farther west than his home state of Illinois. Creator of Hopalong Cassidy in his novels beginning in 1910. The character was adapted to movies, radio and a television series starring William Boyd. For radio there were 104 programs syndicated (1948-1950) by William Boyd's Commodore Productions, broadcast on Mutual (1950); CBS (1950-1952). Hopalong Cassidy was on NBC-TV as an hour program (1949-1951), in syndication (1952-1954).
