Born in Baltimore, Maryland 10/15/1889; died 10/14/1979 of a stroke in Perris, California. Screen debut in Hearts In Dixie (1928). Muse was the first African- American actor to star in a movie, appearing in over 215 movies during his career. Last movie was The Black Stallion (1979). Vocalist on the Paducah Plantation for NBC-Radio (1936-1937). Sam on Casablanca for ABC-TV (1955-56). Muse was honored at the first Black Filmmakers Hall Of Fame dinner (1973).
