Spoiler :
I believe that Clark Dennis was my uncle. His father was Clarence Probert a physician in Flint Michigan and his younger sister was Dorothy or Dorothea Probert. Her name was changed (probably by her) to D'alice, and it became Dalice. I am Dalice's only child, Michael Sean Quinn, and I am now 77. Clark also had a younger brother named Paul Probert (or Henry Paul Probert). I have been told that he died in an auto accident in the 1930s. I suspect it must have been in the late 30s. I conjecture that Clark Dennis's given name was Clark Probert, though, obviously, I cannot know that. I met Clark at his bookstore in LA some years ago--maybe in the 1960s. Alas, we did not come to know each other. I did not have the impression that Clark had happy memories of his Michigan years or of his Flint family. That impression was formed so hastily that I do not give it the slightest credit. My mother always spoke of Clark with affection and respect.
