Great actor and enjoyed all of his movies'. To name a couple 'Casablanca', 'Mrs. Skiffington' (with Bette Davis) and that suspense movie where he plays a German spy opposite Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant.

The great Claude Rains was born 125 years ago in London. Few actors in cinematic history were more reliable in consistently delivering memorable performances. We’re not sure we can name a bad one from Mr. Rains. If you wish to watch one of his pictures today to celebrate his birthday, there are dozens of worthy options, but you can certainly not go wrong by choosing either Casablanca, The Invisible Man, or Notorious.

The diminutive (5ft 7in) but amazing Claude Rains. Prior to his entry into films in The Invisible Man (1933) he was a well known stage actor who also taught at the Royal Academy Of Dramatic Arts where 2 of his best known "students" were a young Laurence Olivier and John Gielgud. :)

Married and divorced to actress Isabel Jeans (?-?); Marie Hemmingway (?-?); Beatrix Thomson (?-?); Frances Propper (?-?); Agi Jambor (?-?); Rosemary McGroarty (1961-his death). Father of actress Jessica Rains. On stage in Sweet Nell Of Old Drury at age eleven. Screen debut in 1933, as the voice of The Invisible Man (only seen in the final moments of the movie). Rains was nominated four times for an Academy Award, but never won one. Last movie was The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965). Rains once taught acting at RADA, actor Charles Laughton was his student. For a brief time in 1945, Rains played Doctor Webb on Dr. Christian for CBS-Radio.
