Spoiler : Clayton Moore (September 14, 1914 – December 28, 1999), best known for playing the fictional western character the Lone Ranger from 1949–1951 and 1954–1957 (missing two seasons due to a contract dispute) on the television series of the same name and two related movies from the same producers. In 1949 Moore's work in the Ghost of Zorro serial drew the attention of George Trendle, co-creator and producer of The Lone Ranger, a popular radio series about a mysterious former Texas Ranger, the sole survivor of a six-Ranger posse ambushed by a gang of outlaws, who roamed the West with his Indian companion battling evil and helping the downtrodden. When Trendle brought the series to television, Moore landed the title role. With the "cavalry charge" from Rossini's William Tell Overture as their theme music, Moore and co-star Jay Silverheels made history as the stars of the first Western written specifically for television. The Lone Ranger soon became the highest-rated program to that point on the fledgling ABC network and its first true hit. It earned an Emmy Award nomination in 1950. Clayton Moore died on December 28, 1999, in a West Hills, California, hospital after suffering a heart attack at his home. He is buried at Forest Lawn-Glendale.

Spoiler : Moore, Clayton (birth name was Jack Carlton Moore, aka Jack Moore) Born in Chicago, Illinois 9/14/1914; died 12/28/1999 after suffering a heart attack at his home in Calabasas, California at the West Hills, California hospital. Married four times including former actress Sally Allen (1943-1986 her death); Clarita Petrone (?-1999 his death). Moore began his career as a member of the Flying Behrs flying-trapeze act that debuted at the Century of Progress exposition in Chicago (1934), then worked as a model in Chicago and New York. Moved to Hollywood in 1937, made his movie debut the same year in Thunder Trail using name of Jack Moore.

Spoiler : Moore played The Lone Ranger on the ABC-TV series (1949-1952, again 1954-1957). Moore provided his voice for the Ranger in The Lone Ranger CBS-TV Saturday morning cartoon series (1966-1969).

Spoiler : Moore had been making public appearances and doing commercials for years after the series ended wearing the mask of the Lone Ranger. The Wrather Corporation, producers of the 1981 movie, The Legend of the Lone Ranger starring Klinton Spilsbury, obtained a 1979 court order against Moore's use of the character. Following the failure of the 1981 movie, the Wrather Corporation relented, and Moore was given permission to don his mask again at promotional appearances. Moore's last appearances was as the Ranger in the 1999 Stan Freeberg commercials, "Show Us Your Pizza Roll Pack."
