Spoiler : There are so many incredible performances that he left, it's almost impossible to pick a favorite. But his range was outstandingly shown in films that include The Oxbow Incident, Ball of Fire, State Fair, and A Walk in the Sun. Everything represented from heart wrenching drama (The Oxbow Incident) to comedy (Ball of Fire) to a musical (State Fair) to a story about a military engagement (A Walk in the Sun). He did it all with a dignity, grace, and truth, that was vastly underrated by all those who should have honored him years ago with any one of the highest awards. But his fans remain in awe of his gifts. Favorites? Mine are The Best Years of Our Lives, where his displaced WWII soldier reminds me of my dad (who was movie star handsome, but bewildered by a world that had changed in his absence. I loved him as the doomed soldier, who fell in love at a time over which he had no control in My Foolish Heart. Laura was when he burst into society using truth as a kind bludgeon over hybrid hypocrisy. He made a stunning authority who was finally the only deserving character of beautiful Laura's love. In life he was just as beautiful, as he challenged alcoholism, and devoted himself as a representative on behalf of others in his work for the benefit of other actors. How many know that he was a gifted operatic singer? Favorite? He's at the top of my list over and over again.

Spoiler : Dana Andrews. Carver Dana Andrews was born in Don't, Miss (Mississippi) on January 1, 1909. He was a rather reluctant movie star, because deep down to the very core he realized he would rather just plain act. He died of Alzheimer's disease in 1992. Spoiler : Born in Collins, Mississippi 1/1/1909; died 12/17/1992 of congestive heart failure and pneumonia in Los Alamitos, California. Brother of actor Steve Forrest. Married to actress Mary Todd (1939-1992 his death, she died in 2003). Graduated from the Sam Houston College in Texas. He began his career as an accountant for the Gulf Oil Company in 1930. 1931 was the chief accountant for Tobins, Inc. Hitchiked to Los Angeles, and enrolled at the Pasadena Playhouse to study acting. Screen debut in Lucky Cisco Kid (1938). Last movie was Wild About Ari (1993). President of the Screen Actors Guild (1963-1965). Matt Cvetic on the syndicated radio program, I Was A Communist For The F.B.I. (1952-1954). Thomas Boswell on the NBC-TV soap, Bright Promise (1969-1972).
