Karp, David (aka Wallace Ware)
Born in Manhattan, New York 5/5/1922; died 9/11/1999 of bladder cancer at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Married to Lillian Klass (?-1987 her death). Karp graduated from City College, then served in the Army Signal Corp during WWII. Following the war, he became a writer for radio, television and movies. Karp's most successful novel was "One" (1953) that was made into the 1956 movie, also produced twice on television for Kraft Television Theater on NBC (1955), Matinee Theater on NBC (1957). Writer for television programs including episodes of The
Untouchables on ABC (1959-1963); The Defenders on CBS (1961-1965). Creator- writer of Storefront Lawyers (Men at Law) on CBS-TV (1970-1971). Producer of Hawkins on CBS-TV (1973-1974); Archer on NBC-TV (1975). Emmy Award in 1965 for writing an episode of The Defenders on CBS. Other awards include an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America and a Guggenheim fellowship in creative writing.
