Niven, David (bith name was James David Graham Niven) Born in Kirriemuir, Scotland 3/1/1911; died 7/29/1983 of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in Chateau d'Oex, Switzerland. Married to Primula Rollo (?-her death); Hjordis Tersmedes (?-?). Niven was schooled for a career in the British Army, then served as an officer in the Army (following the tradition set by father and grandfather). Resigned his commission, moved to Canada, working as a lumberman, newspaper writer, laundry messenger, then became a representive for a London wine firm in America before moving to Hollywood, applying at Central Casting. Screen debut in With Out Regret (1935). In 1939 at the outbreak of WWII, he returned home and joined the British Commandos. Academy Award for Separate Tables in 1958.
