She was Oscar nominated as Best Actress for "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" (64) and was married to singer Eddie Fisher from 1955 to '59. She passed only one day after her daughter, actress Carrie Fisher in 2016. Other films included: "The Affairs Of Dobie Gillis" (53), "Susan Slept Here" (54), "The Tender Trap" (55), "The Catered Affair" (56), "Bundle Of Joy" (56 - co-starring husband Eddie Fisher while pregnant with Carrie), "Tammy and the Bachelor" (57), "It Started With A Kiss" (59), "How The West Was Won" (62), "The Singing Nun" (66) and "What's The Matter With Helen?" She was a Girl Scout with 48 merit badges that began her show-business career as a Frenchhorn and bassoon player with the Burbank Youth Symphony Orchestra. Miss Burbank California of 1948, then signed a $65.00 per week contract with Warner Brothers Pictures. Screen debut in The Daughter Of Rosie O'Grady (1950).
