Born in Louisville, Kentucky 4/22/1915; died 2/2/2000 of a brain tumor in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Raised in Tennessee. Dudley first appeared on a children's radio program at age eleven years on WTNT-Nashville, later was doing voices for commercials and programs at WSM-
Nashville. Dudley moved to New York in 1938, holding various jobs before working an NBC pageboy. Dudley became a staff announcer for NBC in 1940. 12/7/1941, Dudley was one of the first announcers to broadcast the attack on Pearl Harbour by the Japanese. Dudley was drafted in 1943, rose to become a program director of the Armed Forces Radio Network in London, where he put on shows with bands entertaining the troops. Following WWII, he returned to NBC, working as an announcer for 40 years before his retirement.
