Born in Snyder, Texas 2/25/1927. He was a child expert horseman that performed in rodeos billed as, "The World's Youngest Trick Rider and Roper." He was discovered by western star Hoot Gibson, who took him to Hollywood to work in films.

Henry Aldrich on The Aldrich Family for NBC-Radio (1943-1944). He replaced Ezra Stone in the role, when Stone was drafted to serve in the military during WWII. Shortly, Jones too was drafted.

When Jones was discharged, he couldn't resume his acting career, and was working as a carpenter when Gene Autry signed a contract with him. Dick West on the syndicated television series, The Range Rider (1951-1952). Buffalo Bill, Jr. on the syndicated television series (1955-1960). Both series were produced by Gene Autry's Flying A Productions.
