Spoiler : Dolores del Río (1904-1983) was a Mexican actress who was the first major female Latin American crossover star in Hollywood, with a career in American films in the 1920s and 1930s. Movies of note: Bird of Paradise (1932), Flying Down to Rio (1933), Madame Du Barry (1934) and Journey into Fear (1943). She was also considered one of the more important female figures of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema in the 1940s and 1950s. Del Río is remembered as one of the most beautiful faces of the cinema in her time. Her long and varied career spanned silent film, sound film, television, stage and radio. Cool del Rio story: when asked for his autograph later in life, Vincent Price would often sign del Rio’s name. When asked why, Price would say that he promised her on her deathbed he would do his best to keep her name alive.

Spoiler : Vincent Price would sign his autograph with her name now and then, because he promised Dolores on her death she wouldn't be forgotten. She is such a beauty dont know how that would happen, but I find that so kind of him.

Spoiler : There is a hotel in San Sebastian (Spain) dedicated to cinema. Each room is dedicated to a film star and I remember staying in the one for Dolores del Rio. :)

Spoiler : Dolores was romantically involved with film director Orson Welles (from '40 to '43) and after their film "Journey Into Fear" was released in 1943, they split and she returned to Mexico. Her father had recently died and she decided to go back to star in films there, which she did for several years. One of her husbands included art director Cedric Gibbons from 1930 to 1940. Del Rio passed in 1983 at age 77.

Spoiler : Lovely Dolores. She was more known for being an “exotic” beauty than for her acting skills during her Hollywood years. But she was an intuitive and interesting actress during the 30’s. She left Hollywood in the 40’s for her native Mexico where she made many films and stage appearances and reamained a superstar until her death. She only made occassional appearances in American films thereafter.

Spoiler : I had seen an old Movie Magazine that showed Dolores Del Rio, and her Husband, Cedric Gibbons, (At the time) wearing ALL WHITE Outfits, (Which I can imagine in person, looked even more beautiful on Ms. Del Rio, especially with her Olive, and/or Brown skin tones) They were both photographed lounging in their ALL WHITE, Spectacular, Art Deco Home! It was just so cool!!
