Spoiler :
As a kid, I noted the announcers behind NBC Saturday Night at the Movies were "Donald" Rickles and Victor Bozeman, and I realized this Rickles might have had a problem avoiding confusion with the comedian Don Rickles, thus the "Donald" instead of "Don." But I didn't know if the announcer was ever known as "Don" Rickles.
However, I this morning heard a 1950 episode of the NBC Network radio show, "Nightbeat." At the end, announcer Rickles identified himself as DON Rickles.
I instantly realized it was the same announcer, of course. He HAD been known as "Don" before the ascent of the other Don Rickles, the comedian. I don't know if the announcer changed to using "Donald" as he got involved in newscasts or of he did it to differentiate from the comedian. Interesting, either way. Tom Shaer, Chicago, IL

I CAN'T BLEVE there still aren't pix of him on the internet after all these yrs, as well as wrkg for NBC for nearly his entire life?!!
I've been Googling ur uncle for AT LEAST 10 yrs for photos - it's RIDICULOUS that NBC hasn't posted any photos of him so his face is known almost as much as his VERY FAMOUS & recognizable voice?!!

Hi Kevin,
My name is Michael Starr. I've covered television at The New York Post for the past twenty-six years. I'm writing a biography of Don Rickles (the comedian); IMDB has credits attributed to Don as "announcer" on several shows from the late '50s to early '60s. I'm guessing these are misattributed and should be Donald Rickles (your cousin)? I've found no mention of these shows in my (exhaustive) research.
Best,
Michael
