Born in Hastings, England 3/3/1906; died 7/23/1966 following a brief illness in Norwalk, California. Novis' family moved to Canada when he was two years old, then California. He attended Whittier College where he excelled in sports. Following his education, he became a professional boxer using the name of Mickey Flynn.

Novis began his radio career in 1929 after winning a contest on The Atwater Kent radio audition, then he became a singer on KWFI-Los Angeles before he became a featured Irish tenor on radio programs including The Vicks Open House for CBS (1934-1935); The Joe Cook Show (The Colgate House Party) for NBC (1934-1935); The Fibber McGee And Molly Show for NBC (1938-1939). Matt Mulligan the aerialist (also singer) on Jumbo for NBC-Radio (1935-1936). Novis was
featured at Disneyland's Golden Horseshoe Cabaret, and was recreation director at Newport Beach, California until he retired in 1963.
