DOROTHY LAMOUR (1914 ~ 1996) Lamour was the Queen of the Sarong and was best remembered as the female partner of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby in a series of 'Road' pictures. She had a decent singing voice and was a popular star at Paramount. Some of her films included: "The Hurricane" (1937), "Road To Singapore" (40), "Johnny Apollo" (40), "Road To Zanzibar" (41), "The Fleet's In" (42), "Road To Morocco" (42), "And The Angels Sing" (44), "Road To Utopia" (45), "My Favorite Brunette" (47), "Road To Bali" (52), "The Greatest Show On Earth" (52) and she had a cameo in the last 'Road' movie - "The Road To Hong Kong" (62).

Married and divorced to musician Herbie Kaye (1935-1939); frozen-food executive William Ross Howard III (1943-1978 his death). Miss New Orleans of 1931. Lamour began her career as a singer with Herbie Kaye's band. Screen debut in Jungle Princess (1936). Lamour became known as the, "bond bombshell" for her efforts in selling a reported $300 million dollars in war bonds during WWII.

I loved Dorothy Lamour. I thought she was so exotic and enjoyed many of her films. My favorite of hers with Bob Hope was "They Got Me Covered," especially the last part of the film at the beauty spa. I also liked the 1949 film noir "Lucky Stiff" with another favorite Claire Trevor.

Dorothy Lamour (1914 ~ 1996) had an excellent singing voice and actually started off her career as a big band singer in the 1930s before she began her acting career. She is best remembered as the female lead in several "Road" musical comedies, co-starring Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. Dorothy was also a popular pin-up during World War II and was nicknamed the 'The Bond Bombshell' for breaking records selling war bonds and appeared in a sarong in a few films.
