Born in California 3/12/1921; died 3/28/1989 following heart surgery in Paradise Valley, Arizona. He was one of twelve souls that survived the sinking of Battleship Arizona on 12/7/1941 during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Following the end of WWII, he was the creator and commentator on more that 7,000 daily broadcasts on his popular daily radio called "Our Changing World." The series began as a WGN- Chicago series, then by 1949, the series was so popular that it became a syndicated series until the 1980s. Nightingale played Schuyler (Sky) King on Sky King for the ABC and Mutual Radio Networks (1950-1953).

In 1956, Nightingale wrote the essay that was to become the LP titled, "The Strangest Secret." That recording became the first spoken message ever to receive a Gold Record by selling over one million copies. In the late 1950s, he formed Nightingale-Conant Corporation with his business partner Lloyd Conant. The company was dedicated to helping others achieve personal success. Over the years that followed, Nightingale had many best-selling albums with his corporation.

He was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame and the International Speakers Hall of Fame. He also received the Golden Gavel Award from Toastmasters International. Upon Nightingale's death, Paul Harvey broke the news, stating "the sonorous voice of the nightingale was stilled."

East Texas - 1971: KTFS aired Our Changing World Daily. I recall one particular morning the radio station failed to broadcast his program. A youthful sounding female called into our request line n a near emotional state; 'What can of workday am I supposed to have without hearing Mr. Nightingale's program?'.
