Begley, Ed (birth name was Edward James Begley) Born in Hartford, Connecticut 3/25/1901; died 4/28/1970 of a heart attack while attending a party in Hollywood, California. Married and divorced to Amanda Huff (1922-1952); Dorothy Reeves (1961-1963); Helen Jordan (1963-1970 his death). Father of actor Ed Begley, Jr. Begley began acting as a child, in minstrel shows and community productions. Character actors refered to Begley as, the "character actor's character actor." Broadway debut in 1943, won a 1956 Tony Award as Best Supporting or Featured Actor (Dramatic) for Inherit the Wind. Screen debut playing Paul Harris in Boomerang! (1947). Last movie was playing Warren in The Road To Salina which was released in 1971.
