Gardner, Ed (birth name was Edward Peggenburg) Born in Queens, New York 6/29/1901; died 8/17/1963 of a liver ailment in Hollywood, California. Married and divorced to actress Shirley Booth (1929-1942); actress Simone Hegemann (1943-1963 his death). Gardner began his career at 16 playing piano in a saloon, later was a piano saleman before turning his attention to show business.
