Born near Henderson, Tennessee 5/15/1918. Quit during his first year of high school to sing on a local radio station at Jackson, Tennessee, then appeared on a Memphis station where he met, and joined Pee Wee King's Golden West Cowboys. RCA Victor recording star in 1945 with "That's How Much I Love You." Regular performer on Opry House Matinee for Mutual-Radio (1945-1946); Checkerboard Square (1947-1950). Host of The Eddy Arnold Show on CBS-Radio (1956).

Television debut as a guest on Milton Berle's Texaco Star Theater for NBC-TV in 1949. Host of television programs including The Eddy Arnold Show on CBS (1952-1956), Out On The Farm on NBC- TV (1954) and Today On The Farm on NBC-TV (1960-1961). Guest host for American Profile's telecast of "Music From The Land" on NBC-TV (1967-1968). Elected to Country Music Hall Of Fame in 1966.
