Spoiler : Frank Lovejoy Born Bronx, New York, March 28, 1912 Died New York, New York, October 2, 1962 Age 50 (heart attack) Frank is best remembered as Randy Stone on Night Beat. He was also fairly prominent on early episodes of Dragnet. He and his wife, Joan Banks, were staying in New York at the time of his death because they were working in a stage play, Gore Vidal's The Best Man in a playhouse in New Jersey.

Spoiler : "Night Beat". One of the favorite radio drama shows. And it was all because of the great job done by Mr. Frank Lovejoy.

Spoiler : Happy birthday, Frank Lovejoy! In the early 1950s Lovejoy starred as newspaper reporter Randy Stone in the radio drama Night Beat.

Spoiler : I always groan when I hear him, and say, "Oh great, it's Adenoid Boy." Go ahead. Shoot me. But I just cannot stand the oh-so-requisite Bronxy accent honked out through the nose in the standardized rude, dumb, dangerous jerk character so common in old radio drama. He would not scare me, this character, if I met him. I'd be too infuriated by the nasal, New York, rudeness and sneeritude to react in any additional ways. I like this actor better where I can SEE him. He's sweet and handsome and cool, as long as I can see him. Hearing the voice without the face is fingernails on a chalkboard to me, and I don't see how it fails to affect EVERYONE the same.
