Born in New York City 2/27/1895; died 10/1/1953 of a heart attack. He was orphaned at an early age, then raised by his grandmother. Without formal training, he became the Irish tenor that made his radio debut in 1923, and became known as, "the golden voice of radio" for twenty-two years until his retirement in 1945.
