Born in St Louis, Missouri 7/26/1915; died 10/23/2005 of pneumonia in Encino, California. Father of writer Fred S. Fox, Jr. Fox graduated from UC Berkeley in 1938. He began his career at radio stations KYA and KSFO, both CBS affiliates in San Francisco. He had his own KSFO show called Freddie the Fox, but it was cancelled when mothers complained their children were imitating his stutter. He worked as a writer for the Office of War Information at the beginning of WWII. He moved to Hollywood in 1943, where he became a comedy writer for radio programs.
