Martin, Freddy (birth name was Frederic A. Martin) Born in Cleveland, Ohio 12/9/1906; died 9/30/1983 following a stroke in Newport Beach, California. He was raised in a Cleveland orphanage, then at sixteen went to live with an aunt. While attending high school, he began an interest in music which led to his playing in several bands before forming his own band in 1931.
