Hayes, Gabby (birth name was George Francis Hayes) Born in Wellsville, New York 5/7/1885; died 2/9/1969 of a heart disease in Burbank, California. Married to actress Olive E. Ireland (?-1958 her death). Hayes began his career working in a circus, was a semi-pro-baseball player, and worked in vaudeville. He had retired at 40 (1925), but after loosing his investments in the 1929 stock market crash, he returned to acting.

Screen debut playing Bill in The Rainbow Man (1929). During his career, he appeared in over 200 movies (mostly westerns) including playing Windy Halliday in the Hopalong Cassidy series (1936- 1939). His last movie was playing Oscar 'Frizzly' Winters in The Cariboo Trail (1950). His catchphrases were "yer durn tootin," and "young whipper snapper."
