Born in Wiesbaden, Germany 8/3/1905; died 11/20/2000 at his Richard Neutradesigned home on a San Pedro, California bluff overlooking the ocean. Carter had a stroke in 1993, and was suffering from Parkinson's disease. Never was married. Carter provided organ music for radio programs including Amos 'n' Andy on CBS (1936-1942); Raffles on CBS (1942-1943); Bride And Groom on ABC (1945-1950); Breakfast In Hollywood on NBC (1953-1954).

Carter provided organ music on The Pinky Lee Show for NBC-TV (1950?). The Gaylord Carter Trio was featured on Sawyer Views Hollywood for ABC-TV (1951). During the 1950's, Carter had his own local television show on KCOP-Los Angeles titled, "Everybody Sing With Gaylord."
