Served in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII as a bomb disposal officer. Following the war, Levitt moved to Los Angeles, teamed up with writer Robert Mitchell. The team were writers for The Adventures Of Philip Marlowe on CBS-Radio (1948-1950).
