Kaufman, George S. (birth name was George Simon Kaufman)
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 11/16/1889; died 6/2/1961 of a heart attack in New York City. Married and divorced to Beatrice Bakrow (1917-1945 her death); Leueen MacGrath (1949-1957). He began studying law, but soon became a contributor for Franklin P. Adams' newspaper column, which he took over when Adams left for another newspaper. Writer for many plays including his first, Someone Must Pay (1919). Writer for many movies including The Senator Was Indiscreet (1947). Twice was the winner of a Pulitzer Prize.
