Spoiler : Hard to not recognize Gerald Mohr! When Philip Marlowe began, he was played by Van Heflin (different take on the character and equally well done). In one episode, the villain was played by...Gerald Mohr!! It was so odd hearing him as a villain against Marlowe.

Spoiler : This leading man appeared in more than 500 radio plays, 73 films and over 100 television shows! His starring role as hard boiled detective Philip Marlowe only amounts to about 119 radio episodes!

Spoiler : Seventy years ago I saw the debut of the terrific detective drama, The Adventures of Philip Marlowe. It was based on the books written by Raymond Chandler, and in it’s heyday featured Gerald Mohr as the hard-boiled detective Philip Marlow, his voice perfectly carrying off the blood, guts and thunder frequenting the storylines. His opening to the show was one of the most memorable; “Get this and get it straight. Crime is a sucker’s road, and those who travel it end up in the gutter, the prison, or an early grave.”
