Spoiler : The first time I saw her was on an episode of The Golden Girls. Even doing a guest spot on a sitcom, she put all she had into it and was just incredible.

Spoiler : She's best remembered now for playing Arthur Bach's grandmother in the original movie "Arthur" with Dudley Moore. She was also the mother of director Michael Lindsay-Hogg, who directed the Beatles film, "Let It Be." Apparently, his biological father was Orson Welles, but his legal father was Sir Edward Lindsay-Hogg.

Spoiler : Geraldine Fitzgerald was a really great Actress! I really loved her a lot in any film I have seen her in. I liked her a lot in “You Only Live Twice” with John Garfield. “Three Strangers” with Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre. And a British Classic, “The Late Edwina Black” with David Farrar and Roland Culver. Of course she made other great films. Apparently in real life she was a wonderful Humanitarian and a really nice person. Quite unlike some of her roles where she was out of her real life character.

Spoiler : Born in Dublin, Ireland 11/24/1914; died 7/17/2005 from complications of Alzheimer's disease at her home in New York City. Married and divorced to Edward Lindsay-Hogg (1936-1946); co-founder of the Pan Am Building, Chairman of the New York City Youth Board Stuart Schetfel (1946-1994 his death). Her father was a lawyer, and she spent some time in a London convent school. Actress Vivian Leigh was a schoolmate, and actress Maureen O'Hara was a childhood and lifelong friend. Screen debut in Open All Night (1934). Broadway debut in the Mercury Theatre production of Heartbreak House. Nominated for an Academy Award for her role in 1939's Wuthering Heights. Last feature movie was playing Martha Bach in Arthur 2: On the Rocks (1988). Guest star on Arthur Hopkins Presents for NBC-Radio (1944).
