I grew up avoiding this show, which my dad used to love watching, when I was a kid. But now, I finally get it--this is a wonderful show and I have the TV series on DVD and it includes several of the radio episodes. heart emoticon

I have the series on DVD--it is wonderful, funny, heartwarming, such a talented ensemble cast, nice to follow them through the years and their move from the Bronx to the suburbs. The DVD includes several of the earlier radio broadcasts of the show as well.

she was a classy lady. A very classy lady.....I was too young to have appreciated her when she was popular on radio and television. Sure wish some of the greats from days past could magically come back, even for just a day. I would have millions of questions to ask them all. Would especially love to sit next to Fred Allen and talk about his career.

Berg, Gertrude (Gertrude Edelstein) Born in Harlem, New York 10/3/1899; died 9/14/1966 of heart failure in New York City. Married to Lewis Berg (1918-?). Molly Goldberg on the Goldbergs for the NBC-BLUE, NBC-RED, Mutual and CBS Radio Networks (1929-1950); CBS-TV (1949-1951); NBC-TV (1952-1953); DuMont-TV (1954-1955). Writer for The Zieg-feld Follies Of The Air on CBS-Radio (1936). Author/producer and played the role of Bessie Glass on House of Glass for NBC-BLUE (1935); NBC (1953-1954). The program was based on Berg's childhood experiances when her parents ran a Catskill New York Hotel. Berg made her television debut on Chevrolet Tele- Theatre's presentation of "Whistle, Daughter, Whistle" (10/18/1948). Sarah Green on The Gertrude Berg Show for CBS-TV (1961-1962). Emmy Award in 1951 for The Goldbergs.
