Jenkins, Gordon (birth name was Gordon Hill Jenkins)
Born in Webster Groves, Missouri 5/12/1910; died 5/1/1984 of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in Beverly Hills, California. At age fifteen, he won an amateur ukulele contest that was conducted by Cliff Edwards. His broadcasting career began in 1927 as a staff pianist at KMOX-St Louis, Missouri. Moved to Hollywood in 1938 where he became associated with movies and radio.
From 1939 to 1944, he was music director at NBC-Hollywood.
