Spoiler : Rice, Grantland (birth name was Henry Grantland Rice) Born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee 11/1/1880; died 7/13/1954 of a heart attack in New York City. Married to actress Katherine Hollis (1906-1954 his death). Father of actress Florence Rice who died in 1974 at age 67). He attended Nashville Military Academy and Vanderbuilt University where he was a star baseball player. After graduating in 1901, he placed his sights on a career in journalism, and became associated with several newspapers, wrote poetry, and authored books on golf. He became editor of The American Golfer Magazine, appearing in several film shorts and ob radio. He was also the sports editor for The New York Tribune, and a columnist with The Spotlight newspaper.

Spoiler : Grantland announced the first broadcast of a World Series in 1921 that was held at the Polo Grounds in New York. While covering football games, tt was Rice, that originated the name, "The Four Horsemen" to describe the Notre Dame team's backfield.
