Born in St Paul, Minnesota; died 6/27/2001 at age 81 of cancer at his home in Bel-Air, California. Educated at the University of Minnesota. Goldman began his career in show business while serving in the Army during WWII, writing for the Armed Forces Radio and USO shows. Following the war, he moved to California where he often worked with fellow comedy writer Al Gordon.

Al Gordon and Goldman won Emmy Awards in 1958 and 1959 for writing The Jack Benny Show, a third one in 1966 for writing a Carol Channing special. Writer of comedy material for many comedians including the Smothers Brothers, Jim Nabors, Flip Wilson, Dean Martin, Carol Burnett, was George Burns writer the last seventeen years of the comedians life. Goldman earned a 1986 Writers Guild Award for George Burn's 90th Birthday Salute.
