While attending North- western University Haskell worked on Chicago, Illinois radio stations and was a singer in bands. After graduation from college was a vocalist with Doris Day with the Les Brown Orchestra. Served as a Navy pilot in the South Pacific during WWII. Vocalist on radio programs including The Dave Garroway Show (Reserved For Garroway and Dial Dave Garroway) for NBC (1947-1953); Stop The Music for CBS (1954-1955). Announcer for The Peter Lind Hayes Show on CBS- Radio (1954-1955). Vocalist on television programs including Garroway At Large for NBC (1947-1954); The Jack Paar Show (sometimes announcer) for CBS (1953- 1954); Of All Things for CBS (1956); NBC Bandstand (1957). Guest star many times on the Tonight Show for NBC-TV, and was an occasional replacement for Ed Mahon (announcer) during Johnny Carson's reign.
